Northeastern Edges Tigers, 2-0

BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Tigers had hoped that the victories they earned last week would provide them with some momentum heading into Wednesday's game against Northeastern. However, the Huskies (4-6-0, 3-1-0) spoiled any ideas of the Tigers extending their win streak by posting a 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association decision over Towson (5-6-0, 2-3-0) at Parsons Field.

The loss snapped the Tigers' two-game win streak while allowing the Huskies to win for the third time in the last four matches.

Following a scoreless first half, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute when freshman forward Don Anding scored his second goal of the season off an assist from freshman midfielder Andre Cillotta.

Less than four minutes later, junior forward Nick Lueders upped the Northeastern advantage to 2-0 when he scored on a header for his third goal of the year after a pass from sophomore forward Mike Kennedy.

From there, the Northeastern defense limited the Tigers to just three shots in the final 30 minutes to earn the victory.

Senior goalkeeper Scott Partridge made two saves to earn his third shutout of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper John Steele made three saves in a losing effort for the Tigers, who were outshot by a 15-7 margin.

The Tigers will return home on Sunday afternoon when they host UNC Wilmington in the second game of a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
