Sophomore forward Liam Maloney and junior midfielder Marco Mangione each scored a goal in the second half as the Tigers posted their second straight victory.

"The defense really rose to the occasion tonight," Towson Coach Frank Olszewski said. "Lehigh's an excellent team, but our team defense really stepped up and made the plays when we needed them to."

After a scoreless first half, the Tigers scored their first goal on a penalty kick in the 67th minute after Maloney was fouled inside the penalty box. Mangione converted the first penalty kick attempt of his career to give Towson a 1-0 advantage.

In the 86th minute, the Tigers upped the advantage to 2-0 when Maloney received a crossing pass from senior forward Tommy Appel-Schumacher and scored his third goal of the season on a one-on-one opportunity past junior goalkeeper Jonathan Nydell.

Sophomore goalkeeper John Steele made three saves en route to his first shutout of the season.

Nydell made two saves in a losing effort for Lehigh, which outshot the Tigers by a 14-11 margin.

The Tigers will return home on Sunday afternoon to host Saint Joseph's at the Towson Center Soccer Complex at 1 p.m.
