HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Dovile Miliauskaite posted a "double-double" to help lead the Tigers to a 66-58 win at Hofstra on Thursday evening. Miliauskaite was one of four Tigers (8-5, 2-0 CAA) to score in double figures as the team won its second straight.
"I was really proud of the effort the entire team put forward tonight," said Coach Joe Mathews. "To have four players score in double figures shows a tremendous offensive effort especially missing some players, like Jaleesa Dryver and I thought the defensive was solid too."
With the score tied at 4-4, the Tigers went on a 16-3 run behind a pair of SImona Petronyte three-pointers. Towson led 20-7 with 12:59 to play in the half after that run. The Tiger lead would fluctuate between eight and 12 points over the next several minutes. Shanae Baker-Brice hit a jumper at 6:31 to put the Tigers up 27-15. Towson would outscore the Pride 12-6 over the final five and a half minutes to take a 39-21 lead into the break.
The Tigers scored four of the first six points in the second half to take a 43-23 lead with 17:52 to play. Miliauskaite had all four of the Tigers' points during that stretch. Towson and Hofstra would trade baskets over the next several minutes. Baker-Brice would hit a pair of free throws at 9:22 to give Towson a 53-32 lead. It was the Tigers' largest lead of the game. The Pride would score 26 of the final 39 points to make it a 66-58 final.
Miliauskaite posted her first "double-double" of the season with 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. She would also add a team-high five steals in the contest. Baker-Brice contributed 19 points, six rebounds and three steals. Petrontye had 12 points while Haliena Snowden was the fourth player in double figures. Snowden finished with 10 points and four rebounds.
Shante Evans posted her seventh "double-double" of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Marie Malone came off the bench to score eight points and grab 12 rebounds.
