Opening Kick-Off
Looking to continue their best start in 15 years, the Tigers continue their five-game homestand this week with a pair of non-conference games at the Towson Center Soccer Complex. On Wednesday afternoon, the Tigers will host Longwood University.    Then, on Sunday, the Tigers renew their rivalry with long-time foe Loyola University Maryland in the 58th all-time meeting between the two Charles Street rivals.

Scouting the Lancers
The Lancers enter Wednesday's game with a 0-4-0 record following a 3-0 loss against James Madison on Sunday afternoon. Longwood, which has been held to just four goals in its four games, is led by senior forward Harvey Headley, who has scored two goals this season. Meanwhile, junior forward Zack Mahon and sophomore forward Vinnie Llana have each scored a goal for the Lancers. Junior goalkeeper Joel Helmick has posted a 2.45 goals against average while stopping 67.9 per cent of the shots he has faced. The Lancers are in the middle of a three-game road trip and will visit South Florida on Saturday night.

Scouting the Greyhounds
The defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion Greyhounds, who will face the University of Maryland in a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament first round game on Tuesday night, enter the week with a 1-1-1 record after edging Quinnipiac by a 2-1 margin at the Ridley Athletic Complex on Saturday evening. After battling Campbell to a scoreless draw on September 1 in the season opener, the Greyhounds dropped a 3-1 decision against William & Mary last Tuesday before earning the victory over the Bobcats. Senior forward Phil Bannister, senior midfielder Eddie Dines and sophomore defender Zach Tweddell have accounted for the Greyhounds' three goals this season. Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper Kyle Wittman has played all 290 minutes for the Greyhounds and has a 1.24 goals against average through the first three games.

Longwood-Towson Series History
The Tigers and the Lancers will be meeting for the fourth time in an all-time series which Towson leads by a 3-0-0 margin. It will be the first game between the two teams since 2008 when goalkeeper John Steele made seven saves en route to his first career shutout as the Tigers defeated the Lancers, 3-0. Tommy Appel-Schumacher scored two goals with an assist in the win for the Tigers.

Loyola-Towson Series History
Sunday's game between the Tigers and the Greyhounds will mark the 58th all-time meeting between the two schools which are separated by just four miles of Charles Street. The Greyhounds lead the all-time series by a 38-15-4 margin. Loyola, which has won the last three meetings against the Tigers, earned a 1-0 victory last year over Towson at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field as Phil Bannister scored the only goal in the 30th minute off a pass from Jamie Darvill. The Tigers' last win in the series came on September 11, 2005 in a 1-0 victory in the Loyola Soccer Classic at Alumnae Field on the campus of College of Notre Dame. The Tigers and the Greyhounds also played to a 1-1 tie in the 2006 Towson Invitational at the Towson Center Soccer Complex.

Connect Four
With their 2-1 win over Lehigh on Sunday afternoon, the Tigers improved to 4-0-0 on the season, marking their best start since the 1995 season. During that year, the Tigers won their first eight games en route to a 14-4-0 record and a number 20 national ranking. It was also the Tigers' first year in the America East Conference.

Two for One Special
Senior midfielder Marco Mangione recorded the second two-goal game of his college career in the Tigers' 2-1 win over Lehigh on Sunday afternoon. He scored on a penalty kick midway through the first half before giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute after scoring on a rebound of a shot by freshman forward Kay Banjo. Mangione, who also had three assists in the Tigers' 5-3 win over UMBC, leads the Tigers with three goals and four assists this season. He is the second Tiger to score a pair of goals in a game this year. Senior midfielder Joe O'Rourke had two goals in the Tigers' win over UMBC.

First Things First
The Tigers have scored the game's first goal in each of their four games this season. Senior midfielder Marco Mangione has scored the game's first goal twice this season, including Sunday against Lehigh. He converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute to give Towson a 1-0 lead. In addition, freshman forward Kay Banjo gave the Tigers an early lead against UMBC when he scored his second goal of the season.
