Tigers Edge Saint Joseph's, 3-2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Freshman forward Kay Banjo scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 78th minute as the Tigers (2-0-0) overcame a late rally by Saint Joseph's University (0-2-0) to earn its second straight win, a 3-2 non-conference victory over the Hawks at Finnesey Field on Sunday evening.

Banjo, who scored the first goal of his college career, gave the Tigers a one-goal lead with 12:09 remaining when he tapped a long pass from senior defender Phil Greatwich past freshman goalkeeper Michael Moulton.

The Tigers gained an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when a Saint Joseph's defender kicked the ball into the Hawks' goal.

Just over 12 minutes later, the Tigers upped the advantage to 2-0 when freshman forward Enrico Skrypzak scored the first goal of his college career off an assist from sophomore forward Zach Hoffer.

But, the Hawks answered with a pair of goals to tie the game at 2-2. With 6:54 remaining in the first half, freshman midfielder Colin Reilly scored his first career goal when he headed in a pass from freshman midfielder Jimmy Reilly.

Just over seven minutes into the second half, the Hawks evened the score at 2-2 when senior forward Giacomo DiLisi tallied his first goal of the season by heading in a pass from senior midfielder Alex Garst.

Junior goalkeeper John Steele made four saves for the Tigers, who outshot the Hawks by a 14-12 margin.

Moulton made five saves in a losing effort for the Hawks, who dropped their 20th straight game dating back to the 2008 season.

The Tigers will begin a five-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon when they host UMBC at the Towson Center Soccer Complex at 4 p.m. Meanwhile, the Hawks will travel to Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon to face the Panthers at Duquesne University.
