TOWSON, Md. – Led by two wins from junior Maggie Macedonia, the Tiger women's swimming and diving team ended the regular season by sweeping a double dual meet against George Washington University and Howard University at the Tigers' Burdick Pool on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers defeated the Bison by a 222-31 margin while earning a 201-56 victory over George Washington.
The wins upped the Tigers' record to 14-1, setting a school record for wins in a season. The Tigers had won 13 dual meets in each of the last two years and are now 40-3 in the last three seasons.
Macedonia finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.88 seconds before earning a victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.74. In addition, freshman Kaitlin Burke won a pair of events by taking first place in the 50-yard freestyle (24.40) and 100-yard freestyle (52.32).
One of eight seniors competing in the final home meet of their careers, senior Kayla Zeller (Hempfield H.S./Landisville, Pa.) took first place in the 200-yard freestyle by completing the event in 1:54.54.
Meanwhile, senior Megen Donovan won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.52. Freshman Kendall Towe completed the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:05.03 to earn first place.
Junior Maegan McLaughlin won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:26.03 while junior Cari Czarnecki took first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.48 seconds.
The Tigers finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:36.49.
The Tigers will be idle until late February when they compete at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at George Mason University.
