TOWSON, Md. - Looking for their first conference win of the season Saturday against 17th-ranked Old Dominion, the Tigers received second half goals from Phil Martinelli and Anthony Okodua. However, Tim Hopkinson scored two goals and helped the Monarchs (9-2-0, 5-1-0 CAA) to a 4-2 victory over Towson (1-9-1, 0-6-0) at the Tiger Soccer Complex.

Martinelli and Okodua each had a goal and an assist in an up-tempo second half for the Tigers, who have now outscored the team's last two opponents in the second half by a 4-2 margin.

"You have to fight and it's a lot of soul-searching," Towson Coach Frank Olszewski said. "It's tough right now, but we were plugging away. We can't get down because we always have an opportunity."

Okodua scored his first goal of the season on a breakaway towards the net early in the second half. He then assisted on Martinelli's goal less than seven minutes later to pull the Tigers to within a 3-2 margin with just over 34 minutes in regulation. 

The Monarchs, who entered the game ranked 17th in the nation, scored three times in the first half, including a penalty shot goal from Chris Harmon. Hopkinson scored his second goal of the contest 82:00 into the game to provide the final 4-2 score.

The Tigers next travel to Northeastern University Wednesday, Oct. 19. The game will begin at 6:00 p.m.
