Tigers Travel to Sacramento State Tournament

TOWSON, Md. - Coming off a hard-fought win over Marist, the Tigers head west this weekend to compete in the Sacramento State Capital Classic. Towson (10-12) will face Illinois-Chicago and Santa-Clara on Friday before battling Sacramento State on Saturday. The Tigers will then wrap up the weekend by facing Sacramento State again on Sunday.

Towson used a two-out run in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 6-5 win over Marist on Tuesday afternoon. Erika Stasch and Andrea Stevenson hit home runs in the game for the Tigers.

The Tigers are led by Sammi DiPompo who is batting .364 with 16 RBIs and 10 runs scored. Stevenson is batting .304 with 12 runs scored and her home run on Tuesday was the first of her career. Rachel Miller leads the Tigers with 14 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Katie Lingmai leads the Tigers in the circle with seven wins and a 2.86 ERA.

Illinois-Chicago is 6-12 on the year after falling in three of four games last weekend. Melinda Macias is batting .321 with eight runs scored while Devin Miller has three wins and a 3.49 ERA in the circle. Santa-Clara is 4-9 on the year and led by Briana Knight. Knight is batting .406 with 10 runs scored while Jenna Fong is 3-2 with a 7.71 ERA in the circle.

Sacramento State sits at 6-10 on the year entering the weekend. Alyssa Nakken is batting .333 with 12 runs scored while Taylor Stroud is 4-3 with a 0.95 ERA in the circle.

Following this weekend's action, the Tigers return home to start an eight game home stand. That action begins as the Tigers open their Colonial Athletic Association action with a doubleheader against Georgia State on March 26 at noon.
