BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Sophomore forward Emily Banes completed a record-setting night by scoring the game-winning goal in the 108th minute as the Tigers (5-2-0) won their third straight game, a 2-1 victory over Campbell University (4-3-0) in double overtime on Friday evening.
Banes, who became the first player in school history to score in five consecutive games, converted a pass from junior forward Cheyenne Skidmore from inside the penalty area and scored her sixth goal of the season to lead the Tigers to the victory.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute when Banes scored on an unassisted goal past goalkeeper Ryann Torrero.
The Tigers held the one-goal advantage until the 86th minute when Kirsty Meyer scored her second goal of the season on a header past senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Papciak.
Each team had a shot in the first overtime, but neither team was able to convert.
While Banes recorded a pair of goals for the first time in her career, Papciak made six saves for the Tigers, who were outshot by a 12-9 margin.
Torrero made four saves for the Camels in a losing effort.
The Tigers will continue their five-game road trip on Sunday afternoon when they visit N.C. State at 1 p.m.
