BALTIMORE, Md. – Towson took the short trip to the UMBC Natatorium Saturday for a pair of dual meets with the Retrievers and Loyola Greyhounds and came away with victories against both schools, improving to 8-1 this season. The Tigers defeated UMBC 164-136 and beat Loyola by a score of 230-70.

“It has to be a team mentality and we accomplished what we did today because everyone contributed,” Towson Head Coach Pat Mead said. “It's a whole lot easier doing it that way. That type of toughness is what we need.”

Senior Cari Czarnecki starred yet again for the Tigers, as she won the 200-yard butterfly, the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley.

The 100-yard butterfly displayed Towson's team depth, as the team posted three of the top four finishers. Behind Czarnecki, who timed a 57.82 finish for first place, were freshman Victoria Oslund, who finished second, and Melanie Rowland, who placed fourth. Oslund also finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley and fifth in the 200-yard butterfly.

The one and three-meter dives were also successful for Towson, as senior Caroline Baker won the one-meter event and finished third in the three-meter. She scored 292.80 points in the one-meter event, while teammate Jeanne Ball won the three-meter dive with 276.90 points.

Towson (8-1, 4-0 CAA) returns to action Jan. 27^th for a meet with Johns Hopkins at Burdick Pool. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
