TOWSON, Md. – Towson
(9-1, 4-0 CAA) won its fourth straight meet Friday, earning a home victory over
the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays by a score of 172-117.
Sophomore Kaitlin Burke won the 50
and 200-yard freestyle events Friday for Towson. Her time of 24.63 won the
50-yard freestyle and she posted a time of 1:53.79 in the 200-yard freestyle,
defeating Sarah Rinsma of Johns
Hopkins by over three seconds.
“The
women did a great job of winning the meet,” Towson Head Coach Pat Mead said. “Some of our girls did a
very good job of stepping up and getting to the wall first.”
Senior Cari Czarnecki won the 100 and
200-yard breaststroke events for the Tigers. Czarnecki clocked a 2:23.55 time
in the 200-yard event and a 1:06.15 time in the 100-yard event. Junior Kelsey Rouse finished second in both
events for the Tigers.
The
Tigers have a quick turnaround before a meet at Old Dominion Saturday in a battle
of Colonial Athletic Association squads. The meet begins at 1 p.m. in Norfolk,
Va.
