TOWSON, Md. - Kendall Towe won the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly events, leading the Towson University women's swimming team to a big 188.50-106.50 victory over the Georgetown Hoyas Saturday at Burdick Pool.

Towe paced the Tigers in the 200-yard freestyle recording a time of 1:53.33, as Towson had the top three finishers in the meet. Freshman Hannah Snyder and sophomore Taylor Jarsocrak were second and third, respectively, in the event.

Towe then edged teammate Victoria Oslund in the 200-butterfly, as the pair went down to the wire at the finish. Towe won the event in 2:04.83, while Oslund finished in 2:04.88. Freshman Emily O'Brien finished third for the Tigers.

"Kendall did a great job," Towson head coach Pat Mead said. "It speaks volumes that she stayed over the summer, worked and bought into what we are doing as a program. She has gained more and more confidence."

Junior transfer Courtney Sepich also earned a victory for Towson, placing first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.19. 

In the distance events, Towson freshman Stephanie Romano was outstanding, taking home first place in the 500-yard freestyle and 1,000-yard freestyle events. She timed 5:08.71 in the 500 and 10:24.29 in the 1,000.

The Tigers will next face a trio of opponents at George Mason on Nov. 2-3. The team will swim the Patriots, Northeastern and Old Dominion.
