CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sophomore goalkeeper Tashani Dickson made a career-high 16 saves as the Towson University field hockey team fell at No. 10 Northeastern, 6-0 on Sunday afternoon in the season finale.
The Huskies (13-5, 5-2 CAA) jumped out to an early lead as Crystal Poland converted a penalty stroke just 21 seconds into the game. Northeastern took a 2-0 lead as Hannah Hoelscher scored at 28:14.
Northeastern took the 2-0 lead into the half after recording 20 first half shots. Dickson made six first half saves for the Tigers (1-18, 0-7 CAA).
The Huskies scored four second half goals, including three from Poland. Deirdre Duke scored the other second half goal for Northeastern.
Sophomore Courtney Branco and junior Kathleen Morris took second half shots for the Tigers that Northeastern goalie Lizzie Priest was forced to make a save on.
Northeastern took 25 second half shots and finished the game having recorded all 12 penalty corners awarded.
Priest made four saves while playing the first 61:11 in goal to earn the win. Tameka Geaslen was not forced to make a save in the final 8:49 of action. Dickson made 10 second half saves in the loss for the Tigers.
Sunday's game wrapped up the 2012 season for the Tigers. Towson loses seniors Kasie Nurko, Ashlea Carl, Kate Nolan, co-captain Janine Kovach and co-captain Megan Penza to graduation but returns its top two leading scorers for next season.
