NORFOLK, Va. - Led by a dominating effort by junior Kaitlin Burke, the Tigers (5-0, 4-0 CAA) remained undefeated after a trio of victories over Colonial Athletic Association opponents Saturday in a POD Meet hosted by Old Dominion. The Tigers defeated the host Monarchs, Northeastern and George Mason. Towson has won its first five meets of the season for the fifth consecutive year.
Burke won three individual events and was also part of two Towson relays that also took home first place.
"We were a little flat in the morning session today," Towson head coach Pat Mead said. "When you go to someone else's facility, you want to try and make the atmosphere as close to, if not better than, your own pool. I think we did a good job of that."
The Tigers also received standout efforts from Amanda Barber and Victoria Oslund in the meet.
Barber took home first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.84, while Oslund had a fine time of 2:07.10 in the 200-yard individual medley to take home first place in the event. Oslund also broke the pool record in the 200-yard butterfly.
"It's great to be winning the dual meets," Mead commented. "But, we have some work to do as we start the second half of the season."
Towson will return to Burdick Pool Saturday, Nov. 10 against George Washington for a meet at 1 p.m.
