| @Towson_WSOC Drops 5-0 Decision to Maryland

College Park, Md. - The Towson University women's soccer team (0-4-1) dropped a 5-0 decision to the University of Maryland (3-1-1) at Ludwig Field this afternoon.

"There were some good chances for us," said Head Coach Greg Paynter. "The scoreboard didn't quite indicate how the game went. We knew we needed good goalkeeping and we got that. They put a lot of pressure on us, but overall I'm pleased."

The Terrapins drew first blood in the 14th minute. Becky Kaplan scored on a one-timer in the lower left of the goal. Megan Gibbons and Olivia Wagner assisted on the goal. Wagner found the back of the net herself 30 minutes later when she received a pass 25 yards out and scored in the upper left corner at 44:32.

The Terrapins came out firing in the second half, knocking in the first of three second-half goals just 48 seconds into the frame. Wagner scored her second at 60:47 and Hayley Brock tallied a goal four minutes later for the final margin.

Sophomore Erin Quinn made a career-best nine saves in net for Towson. Maryland outshot Towson 24-5 and held a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Towson participates in the Navy Invitational next weekend, playing George Washington on Friday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. and then host Navy on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m.
