TOWSON, Md. - Despite sophomore goalkeeper Tashani Dickson's 14 saves and Kasie Nurko's second goal of the season, the No. 20 Drexel Dragons (8-3, 2-0 CAA) defeated the Tigers 3-1 (0-10, 0-2 CAA) on Friday night at Unitas Stadium in a matchup of Colonial Athletic Association teams.

The Tiger defense was especially impressive to Towson head coach Michelle Webber. Towson did not allow a goal for the final 51:18 of the game.

"The defensive effort was great and Tashani had a great game," Webber said. "Our offensive execution in the last five minutes of the game was outstanding, but we need to figure out how to finish games. We are confident that we can play with any team, but we are frustrated that we are not finishing opportunities."

Though Towson was outshot 11-3 in the first half, the team's adjustments were able to create a more focused offensive attack against Drexel in the second half.

Towson attempted five shots in the second period, and Nurko got the Tigers on the board in the final minute of regulation. After a beautiful one-time pass from Stevie Winchester put the ball on the stick of Ashlea Carl, Carl collected the ball and fed Nurko for the goal with 56 seconds remaining.

The Dragons scored all three goals in the first half, including a penalty stoke by Meghan Plank that gave Drexel a 3-0 lead midway through the first half. 

Towson will next travel to St. Francis (Pa.) Sunday for a game at 1 p.m.
