TOWSON, Md. - Amy Goldstein's goal 2:25 into the first overtime period lifted the James Madison Dukes (6-5, 2-0 CAA) to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Towson Tigers (1-10, 0-1 CAA) on Friday night at Unitas Stadium.
Goldstein was well positioned in front of the Tiger net to gather a loose ball and fire a shot past Towson goalkeeper Brittany Varacallo for the game-winning tally. It was Goldstein's third goal of the season.
The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead courtesy of Kate Williams, who streaked down the field after gathering a pass and beat James Madison goalie Stephanie Tarafas less than six minutes into the first half.
From there, a defensive battle would ensue, as the teams combined for just 14 shots in the game. The Dukes' Adrienne le Vatte tied the game in the first half when she weaved her way into the Tiger defense and scored her fifth goal of the year around the 20 minute mark.
Varacallo made seven saves for Towson. The Tigers have now played in seven games decided by one goal this year.
Towson next hosts William & Mary on Sunday at noon in Unitas Stadium.
