Women's Golf Blog - Krissy Unger

Joining the Towson Women's golf program was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I knew what I wanted in a golf program and Towson has certainly exceeded those expectations in only a few short weeks.

The season kicked off with the Tignanelli Towson Invitational, hosted at our own home golf course - The Towson Golf and Country Club. That was my first tournament as a Tiger and the team had a great deal of success, finishing just shy of fourth-place by three shots.  First day scores were bested on day two and many had dramatic finishes on the 18th hole.

This past weekend the team competed at the Navy Chesapeake Bay Tournament down in Annapolis. Larissa Spiess won the individual title after a very exciting even-par round on day one. However, our team came in second-place, just seven shots behind Butler. It was a dramatic finish and the entire team put up a very good fight. Despite placing as the runner-up, each person can take away something positive from her rounds. It's been a very strong start to the season.

Our next tournament is the Charleston Southern Wendy's Invite in Charleston, S.C. This is just another opportunity for the girls to prove themselves. Everyone has been working very hard and we've put a full commitment into improving as a team. Each and every one of us is staying focused on the biggest goal - winning a tournament. With the drive and dedication that each girl has, that goal isn't so far fetched.

Towson University has been the best choice for me not only for golf but for academics as well. The experience has been wonderful so far and I pay credit to my wonderful team and coaches.

One quote I would like to end on is: “The most important shot in golf is the next one” and I am very excited to keep working hard and moving forward as the year progresses.

Go Tigers!
