FAIRFAX, Va. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving program continued their undefeated streak as they improved to 6-0 on the season with wins over College of Charleston (score of 251-95), Northeastern (230-118) and George Mason (222-126) on Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Quad-Meet, hosted by George Mason.
"It was a great weekend for our swimmers and divers," Head Coach
Pat Mead said. "We came in with an expectation to swim fast and dive exceptional. Both the men and women did a tremendous job supporting each other on the pool deck and in the water."
The Tiger effort was led by sophomore
Macey Arnold who picked up wins in four events; the 1650-yard freestyle, the 200-yard freestyle, the 500-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
"
Macey Arnold was incredible today, winning all three of her individual events and swimming on a winning relay," Mead said.Â
Arnold's first win of the two-day meet came in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:05.34. That event was successful for the Tigers as junior
Hannah Snyder finished in second-place (17:16.91) and senior
Taylor Jarsocrak finished third (17:39.76).
Arnold recorded victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.45) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.72). She was also a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay that timed 3:29.64. Freshman
Kendall Krumenacker, senior
Amanda Barber and junior
Charlotte Holz combined with Arnold to earn the victory.
Holz earned victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.88. Senior
Victoria Oslund came in second-place in that event, timing 2:05.48.
Oslund had an impressive performance on both days as she also recorded victories in the 100-yard butterfly (55.96) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.36).
She swam on two winning relays; the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.80) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:46.84). Freshman
Mary Escobar, junior
Jenna Van Camp and Barber combined with Oslund to record the 200-yard medley relay win. Holz, Van Camp and Barber teamed with Oslund for the 400-yard medley relay victory.
Van Camp earned a third victory on the weekend in the 200-yard breaststroke, timing 2:17.84.
Junior
Christine Hammond earned a win in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:27.76. Junior
Hannah Snyder (4:28.76) and freshman
Corie Morton (4:34.47) were successful in that event as well, finishing second and third, respectively.
On the diving boards, junior
Natalee Szopo continued her season's success as she finished first in the three-meter event (272.78). She scored 270.90 in the one-meter event, finishing second to teammate
Molly Arceri (273.98).
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 8th at 1 p.m. as they host George Washington at Burdick Pool.
