Hines-Allen Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Redshirt junior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen of the Towson University women's basketball team was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week on Monday by the league office. Hines-Allen is the second Tiger to earn player of the week honors (Tanisha McTiller – January 13 and 27).

Hines-Allen had a huge game to lead the Tigers to a 75-63 win over the College of Charleston in their home finale.

“LaTorri has truly raised her level of play over the past couple of games,” said Towson Head Coach Niki Reid Geckeler. “She has been able to step up offensively and score in a number of ways. When she gets into a good rhythm she is hard to guard.”

Hines-Allen had a career-high 25 points and a season-high 14 rebounds for Towson against the Cougars. She shot 50% from the floor (9-for-18) and 63.6% from the foul line (7-for-11). Hines-Allen recorded her team-leading 10th “double-double” of the season in the victory. She also added two assists and a team-high three steals.

Hines-Allen enters the final game of the regular season averaging 14.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. She scored her 400th point of the season on Sunday. She and McTiller (509 points) are the first Tigers to score over 400 points in the same season since the 1993-94 season (Danielle Barry and Shannon Ward). Hines-Allen ranks among the top 10 in the CAA in points per game and rebounds per game.

Hines-Allen and Towson wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, Mar. 5 when the Tigers travels to Drexel for a 7 p.m. game.
