Tigers Return Home to Host College of Charleston Sunday

OPENING TIP: After playing a pair of road games, the Tiger women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of SECU Arena. Towson hosts College of Charleston on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: The Tigers resume a fairly new series Sunday as the College of Charleston visits SECU Arena. Towson and the Cougars met last season for the first time.
The Tigers hold a 3-1 lead in the series after posting a 56-52 win when the two squads met in Charleston in January. In that game, redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen led the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Erin Hall had 13 points for the Cougars.

IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME: Towson returns home to SECU Arena after playing two straight on the road. The Tigers will be looking to improve on their 5-3 record at home this season. Towson is 3-1 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) games at home this season. Three Tigers are averaging double figures in the scoring column at home (LaTorri Hines-Allen-16.9, Ciara Webb-12.3, Dominique Johnson-12.0).

WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY: The Tigers recorded five blocks to Delaware's one on Thursday night. Towson has posted more blocks than its opponent in 12 game this season. The Tigers are 7-5 this season when they record more blocks than their opponet in a game. The Tigers are tied for second while averaging 4.0 blocks per game in CAA action. Overall this season, they rank third in the league for blocks per game. Ten Tigers have recorded at least one block this season. That group is led by redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen who has a career-high 28 blocks this season.

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE: Redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen produced a double-double for the Tigers in last Sunday's contest. Hines-Allen had 21 points and 11 rebounds against UNC Wilmington. Hines-Alllen has recorded a double-double in five of the nine CAA games. Overall, Hines-Allen has 10 double-doubles this year. She leads the team and the CAA in that category. As of Monday morning, the Tigers had the CAA leader in double-doubles on both the women's and the men's side of the ball (Hines-Allen - 10 and John Davis - 10). Six programs out of 364 Division I basketball programs have the women's and men's conference leader in double-doubles (Wake Forest-ACC, Kennesaw State-Atlantic Sun, Towson-CAA, UNLV-Mountain West, Lehigh-Patriot and Bakersfield-Western).

BOMBS AWAY!: The Tigers have become more reliant on hitting three-pointers during CAA play. Towson hit seven more three-pointers in Thursday's contest at Delaware. Four Tigers made at least one triple in that game. Towson is now averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game during CAA games. The Tigers have hit at least five three-pointers in eight of their eightnine CAA games (held to three at JMU). Towson hit a school record 12 three-pointers in the win over Northeastern last week. Senior guard Ciara Webb has hit 23 three-pointers in CAA play while junior guard Dominique Johnson has added 16 triples.
