Tigers Head To Conference Rival Hofstra On Sunday

ON THE ROAD: Towson heads away from home for four-straight games. The Tigers open up the roadtrip with a single game this week, heading to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe Hofstra on Friday, Oct. 11 for a 1 p.m. matchup.

UPDATING THE TIGERS: Towson is looking for its first CAA win after falling to No. 19 James Madison and William & Mary to open conference play. Senior Stacey Mackintosh had an impressive weekend, recording the Tigers' lone goal and making two defensive saves. Junior goalkeeper Megan Boyle recorded a career-high 18 saves in the Tigers' loss to No. 19 James Madison on Friday.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 37th meeting between Towson and Hofstra. The Pride hold a 25-10-1 advantage in the series and have won three-straight meetings. The Tigers' last victory over the Pride was a 3-1 win in 2011.  

SCOUTING HOFSTRA: Hofstra (10-4, 0-1 CAA) fell to No. 13 Delaware 4-2 on Friday night. The Pride had an eight-game winning streak snapped in the loss to the Blue Hens. Claudia Marin Samper leads the CAA in points (40), goals (15) and assists (10). Goalkeeper Carys Swan has 55 saves on the season with a .679 save percentage. Swan's goals against average ranks second in the conference (2.14).

BALANCING ACT: The Tigers have enjoyed a balanced scoring output this season with nine different players recording a point. Junior Morgan Skavdahl (3 G) and seniors Stacey Mackintosh (3 G) and Heather Jenney (2 G, 2 A) lead the squad with six points each. Junior Sam Zelenack has a team-best three assists on the season.

SAVES, SAVES, SAVES: Towson sits at the top of the conference with 120 total saves on the season. Sophomore Megan Boyle ranks second in the CAA in saves (68) and save percentage (.739) and ranks eighth in the conference in goals against average (3.26).

DEFENSIVE DYNAMOS: The Tigers lead the conference with 11 defensive saves. Senior Stacey Mackintosh tallied two against William & Mary and has a CAA leading six defensive saves. Sophomore Sabrina Davis added one against William & Mary for a total of two so far this season. Freshman Erika McKay has made two defensive saves while senior Heather Jenney has recorded one this season.
 
FACING THE BEST: The Tigers have a tough schedule in 2015 with three of their opponents ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Poll. The Tigers fell to No. 19 James Madison last weekend and are scheduled to face No. 13 Delaware (Oct. 23) and No. 8 Maryland (Oct. 25).

UP NEXT: The Tigers will stay on the road to battle La Salle on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 12 p.m. Towson will wrap up its four-game roadtrip at CAA rival No. 13 Delaware on Friday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. and #8 Maryland on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.
