DANBURY, Conn. – After finishing under par in all four tournaments in the month of September, Towson junior golfer
James Grem has been named the ECAC Division I Men's Golfer of the Month.
"It is great to see Jimmy get the accolades he so richly deserves," said head coach
Brian Yaniger. "His hard work and dedication over this past summer are paying dividends. The entire team is proud of what he continues to accomplish."
Through the first four tournaments, 12 rounds, of the season, Grem is averaging 69.75, the 10
th-best scoring average in the NCAA.
He began his season by shooting a two-under par 211 (69-71-71) in helping the Tigers win the Rutgers Invitational by 20 strokes. He came back the following week and shot his second-straight 211 (67-69-75) to finish as the runner-up at the Cornell Invitational. Grem shot his third consecutive 211 when he shot 71-66-74 (-5) at the Hartford Hawk Invitational.
He saved his best effort for the final tournament of the month as he captured medalist honors at the Patriot Intercollegiate after shooting nine-under par (67-64-73=204). His second-round 64 was just one shot off the school record, while his 54-hole total ranked as the second lowest in school history.
