JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Towson University men's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Red Flash Invitational on Monday, finishing the day tied for third place with Howard. The Black & Gold were led by two Tigers who posted under-par scores through 36 holes.
High Point leads the tournament after day one with a team total of 555 (-5), followed by Columbia in second at 556 (-4). Towson and Howard are tied for third, both sitting at 558 (-2).
Senior Jai Sheth leads the way for Towson, currently tied for second overall in a field of 66 golfers. Sheth recorded his second-lowest collegiate round in both rounds, carding a 68 (-2) each time. Over 36 holes, he totaled six birdies and one eagle.
Michael Matheson joins Sheth in the top 10, currently tied for eighth place. Matheson opened with a 67 (-3), his second-lowest collegiate round, followed by a 71 (+1) in round two. Matheson's efforts were supported by nine birdies across both rounds.
Sky Aung and Ariihau Faana are both tied for 22nd place. Faana also shot under-par in the first round, recording a 69 (-1) followed by a second-round score of 73 (+3) with the support of five birdies. Aung posted rounds of 72 (+2) and an even-par 70, also highlighted by five birdies.
Matthew Gonnello rounds out Towson's lineup, currently tied for 53rd place after rounds of 77 (+7) and an improved 74 (+4).
