Tigers Return Home to Host California on Saturday

Opening Draw: The Towson women's lacrosse team returns home to Unitas Stadium on Saturday, March 21 for a non-conference contest. The Tigers will battle California with first draw set for 1 p.m. Audio coverage of the game is available on Towson Sports Network with Ian Jett and Brandon Sacks providing the call.

Updating the Tigers: The Tigers will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they face the Golden Bears. Freshmen Erika Cavallo and Emily Gillingham led the Tigers with two goals each in a 6-5 loss at Delaware on Wednesday night. Redshirt senior attacker Andi Raymond paces the offense with nine goals and six assists for 15 points. Cavallo and sophomore attacker Gabby Cha have each added seven points. Cavallo's have come on seven goals while Cha has six goals and an assist. Junior midfielder Breanna Hamm has pulled down a team-high 23 draw controls while junior defender Emily Roth has collected 12 ground balls. Sophomore defender Kelly McQuilkin has a team-best six caused turnovers. Senior Kelsea Donnelly carries a 9.71 goals against average and a .456 save percentage into the action.

Scouting California: California brings a 1-5 record into the game and was last in action on March 15 when it fell to San Diego State, 20-14. Jena Fritts had two goals and two assists in the game for the Golden Bears. Bella Huther leads California on the season with 15 goals and four assists for 19 points. Sasha Anielski and Lizzie Lavie each have 16 points on the season. Anielski has posted 12 goals and four assists while Lavie has a team-high 10 assists and six goals. Gaby Christman has a team-best 10 caused turnovers while adding 11 draw controls and eight ground balls. Kate Gutierrez and Helen Hansen have split time in the cage this season. Gutierrez has a 17.71 goals against average and a save percentage of .264 while Hansen has a 15.25 goals against average and a .226 save percentage.

Towson-California Series History: Saturday's game will be just the second all-time between the Tigers and Golden Bears. Last year, the Tigers sprinted out to a 13-5 halftime advantage en route to a 19-11 victory. Andi Raymond and Taylor Moore each scored four goals in the win. Eight Tigers scored at least one goal as the Tigers recorded their most goals since 2010. Gaby Christman had two goals and an assist for the Golden Bears.

I'll Take That: Senior defender Michelle Dufault had a caused turnover against Delaware on Wednesday night. That gave her five caused turnovers for the season and 53 for her career. Dufault moved into a tie for ninth on the caused turnover list at Towson. She needs six more caused turnovers to move into a tie with Nikki Marcinik (59) for fifth place on the career caused turnovers list.

Making the Most of Her Shots: Freshman midfielder Emily Gillingham scored a pair of goals for the Tigers on Wednesday at Delaware including the game-tying goal late in the second half. Gillingham has now scored two goals in each of the last two games. She has been extremely effective with her shot, scoring four goals on four shots this season.

Bre Breaks In: Junior midfielder Breanna Hamm added another draw control to her total on Wednesday at Delaware. She has recorded five or more draw controls in a game three times this season. Hamm now has 23 draw controls this season and 94 for her career. She moved into 10th place on the career draw controls list at Towson. She needs 25 more draw controls to move into a tie for fifth place on the career draw controls list with former teammate Katie Leech (119).

Roth Rules the Defense: Junior defender Emily Roth had a career-high three caused turnovers on Wednesday night at Delaware. It was the first time this season that a Tiger recorded three caused turnovers in a game and the first time since last year's CAA Championship that the Tigers had a player with three caused turnovers in a game. Last year the Tigers had a player record three caused turnovers in a game five times.

What's Next? The Tigers remain home to host UC Davis on Wednesday, March 25 at 7 p.m.
