Tigers Battle Local Rival Loyola on Wednesday Night

Opening Draw: Looking to bounce back from a tough loss at No. 14 Penn last time out, the Tiger women's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, April 1. The Tigers host local rival, No. 16 Loyola at 7 p.m. Audio coverage of the game is available on Towson Sports Network with Kevin Copp providing the call.

Updating the Tigers: Towson saw its two-game win streak snapped with a 12-5 loss at No. 14 Penn last time out. Redshirt senior attacker Andi Raymond recorded a pair of goals against the Quakers while sophomore midfielder Samantha Brookhart had an assist and a career-high six draw controls. Raymond leads the Tigers with 21 points on 12 goals and nine assists. Attackers Erika Cavallo and Gabby Cha are also tied for the team lead in goals scored with 12. Brookhart has a team-high 10 assists to go along with four goals. Junior midfielder Breanna Hamm has pulled down a team-best 31 draw controls while junior defender Emily Roth has tallied 17 ground balls. After recording four caused turnovers last week, senior defender Michelle Dufault now has a team-high 11 caused turnovers. Senior Kelsea Donnelly has posted a 9.00 goals against averaged and a .453 save percentage in the cage.

Scouting Loyola: The Greyhounds have won six straight games following a 13-8 victory at Holy Cross on Saturday. Hannah Schmitt had six points on four goals and two assists in the win. On the season, Schmitt has tallied a team-high 40 points on 31 goals and nine assists. Annie Thomas has a team-best 22 assists and 17 goals for 39 points. Taryn VanThof leads the team with 44 draw controls while Patriot League Defender of the Week Maddy Lesher has 26 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Molly Wolf has posted an 8.70 goals against average and a .463 save percentage in 11 games for the Greyhounds.

Towson-Loyola Series History: Wednesday's game will be the 42nd meeting all-time between the two schools seperated by just 3.5 miles. The Greyhounds lead the match-up, 31-10 following a 7-6 victory last year and have won two straight. Towson's last win in the series came in the 2012 season by a 7-6 score. Last year when the two teams met at Loyola, Towson held a 5-3 lead at the half but the Greyhounds used a strong second half to claim the victory. Gabby Cha had three goals in the game while Annie Thomas led Loyola with two goals and an assist.

This One's Going to Be Close: If history is any indication, Wednesday's game should be a close one down to the very end. Four of the last six games between these two schools have been decided by three goals or less. That includes the last three games which have all been decided by one goal.

Reaching for the Big 1-0-0: Redshirt senior attacker Andi Raymond scored a pair of goals at Penn on Saturday. That lifts her season total to 12 goals and her career total to 97 goals. Raymond needs just one more goals to move into the top 10 for career goals at Towson. She also needs three more goals to become the 10th player in program history to score 100 or more goals in her career.

Don't I Know You: When Towson Head Coach Sonia LaMonica looks at the Loyola sideline she will see a familiar face. LaMonica and Loyola Head Coach Jen Adams are both Maryland graduates (LaMonica - '03, Adams - 01), who played a key role in the success of the Terrapin lacrosse program that captured a National Championship in 2001. The pair also both hail from Australia and have played together on the Australian National Team in the World Cup.

Piling Up the Draws: Junior midfielder Breanna Hamm had four draw controls in two games last week. She now has 31 for the season and 102 of her career. Hamm is just the ninth player in program history to record at least 100 draw controls in her career. She has recorded five or more draw controls in a game three times this season. She needs 17 more draw controls to move into a tie for fifth place on the career draw controls list with former teammate Katie Leech (119).

I'll Take That: Senior defender Michelle Dufault had four caused turnovers last week for the Tigers. That raised her season total to 11 and her career total to 59. She is currently tied with Nikki Marcinik for fifth place on the career caused turnover list at Towson.

What's Next? Following Wednesday's game, the Tigers return to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action when they host CAA newcomer Elon on Friday, April 3 at 7 p.m.
