Opening Draw: The Tiger women's lacrosse team wraps up a busy weekend with a tough test on Sunday, April 12. Updating the Tigers: Towson ran its current win streak to three straight games with a 15-6 win over Drexel on Friday night. Seven Tigers scored in the win and that group was led by redshirt senior attacker
Andi Raymond, who had four goals and one assist. Raymond now has 24 goals and 13 assists for 37 points. Sophomore midfielder
Samantha Brookhart leads the squad with 14 assists and has added four goals for 18 points. Junior defender
Emily Roth enters the Hofstra game with 30 ground balls while junior midfielder
Breanna Hamm has a team-high 35 draw controls. Senior defender
Michelle Dufault leads the way with 18 caused turnovers. Senior
Kelsea Donnelly enters Sunday's action with an 8.35 goals against average and a .486 save percentage.
Scouting Hofstra: Hofstra comes into the game against Towson as the last unbeaten squad in CAA play after a 6-5 win at Delaware on Friday night.
Brittain Altomare led the way with two goals, two assists and five draw controls while
Kelsey Gregerson made eight saves against the Blue Hens. Altomare leads the Pride on the season with 30 goals and 33 assists for 63 points.
Tiana Parrella has 18 goals and 10 assists for 28 points. Altomare also leads Hofstra in the circle with 70 draw controls.
April Iannetta has been a force defensively with 37 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers. Gregerson brings a 8.69 goals against average and a .444 save percentage.
Towson-Hofstra Series History: Sunday's game will be the 34th meeting all-time between the Tigers and the Pride. Towson currently leads the series, 21-12. The two squads met twice last year. Towson defeated Hofstra 9-5 in the regular season in Hempstead.
Kelsea Donnelly made 11 saves in the win. The two squads met again in the CAA semifinals in May of last year. In that game,
Andi Raymond scored three goals including the game-winner with eight seconds to play.
Lucky Number Seven: Seven Tigers found the back of the net in the win over Drexel on Friday night. Redshirt senior attacker
Andi Raymond led the way with four goals. Towson is 3-1 this season when seven players find the back of the net in the same game. Since the start of last season the Tigers are 8-1 when seven or more players score a goal in the same game.
Hats Off to You! Hat tricks from senior attackers
Taylor Moore and
Andi Raymond paced the Tigers' offensive efforts in Friday's victory over Drexel. Moore scored all three of her goals in the second half. She recorded her first hat trick of the year and second of her career. Raymond's hat trick was her third straight and fifth of the season. She now has 19 career hat tricks as a Tiger.
You'll Always Remember Your First: For the second straight game, the Tigers saw a player score their first career goal. Sophomore attacker
Michaela Duranti tallied the final goal of the game against Drexel for her first career score. Duranti is the fifth Tiger to score their first career goal this season. She joins a group that includes freshmen
Kaitlyn Montalbano,
Erika Cavallo,
Emily Gillingham and
Jenna Kerr.
Donnelly Closes in on 400: Senior
Kelsea Donnelly had eight saves, seven of which came in the first half, against Drexel. That raised her season total to 88 and her career saves total to 389. She currently ranks 10th in Towson history for career saves and 14th among Division I active career leaders. Donnelly needs 11 more saves to become the 10th player in Towson history with 400 career saves.
What's Next? Following Sunday's game, the Tigers take to the road to wrap up CAA play. The Tigers will visit James Madison (4/17) and William & Mary (4/19) next weekend. Towson returns home to face Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 25 and will honor its seniors before the game.
