The Streak: ContinuesLast weekend the Tigers went 1-0-1, topping Saint Francis 2-1 in a double overtime thriller, with
Natalia Pinkney notching the game-winner. Sunday saw Towson play to a 0-0 draw with University of Pennsylvania. The results moved Towson's unbeaten streak to eight this season, while improving the Tigers to 4-0-3 in their last seven games at the Tiger Soccer Complex.
#16 in Your Programs, #10 on SportsCenterLast Friday saw not only
Natalia Pinkney score the game-winning goal, her third of the season, but the junior forward put the Tigers on the national stag with her fancy footwork. After splitting two defenders, caught on film by the Towson Sports Network, Pinkney's game-winner was selected as the No. 10 on SportsCenter's coveted Top 10 list for Saturday morning.
The Series: James MadisonThe Tigers and Dukes have clashed every season since the first meeting on Sept. 25, 2002. The two schools have never squared off on the women's soccer field as non-conference opponents, having only played one another since Towson joined the CAA in 2002. James Madison leads the all-time series 13-0-0. But despite the one-sidedness to the series, the games have been close; five of the last six contests have been decided by one goal. The Dukes won last year's game 4-2 in Towson.
Give Her CreditEarly in the first half on Sunday, junior keeper
Taylor Sebolao was forced to leave after taking a knock on the head and suffering a bloody nose.
Emma Burnett played her first action at home in Sebolao's place. After returning to the game six minutes later, Sebolao finished the game. The NCAA Statistician's Manual states that a goalkeeper must play every minute to earn the shutout, but because Sebolao was forced to leave because of procedure, and promptly returned, the NCAA credited Sebolao with the full shutout, bringing her season total to five.
National Stats RankingsTowson moved up in several statistical categories this week, including the fourth-best team save percentage (.923) among 327 ranked programs. Only Rutgers, Cornell and BYU are ahead of Towson. The Tigers are 21st in the country in shutout percentage, earning clean sheets 60 percent of the time.
Natalia Pinkney is ranked 12th in the country in game-winning goals, securing three wins on four total goals. Her fourth was a game-tying effort against High Point.
Taylor Sebolao is fifth in save percentage (.919), 17th in goalie minutes played (932), and 21st in goals against average (0.483).
