TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving team won nine events to claim a 150-144 victory over William & Mary on Saturday.
Kendall Krumenacker and
Ashley Illenye highlighted the Tiger effort, winning three events each.
Towson recorded 25 top-three finishes in the dual meet, held at Burdick Pool. The victory extended the Tigers' home win streak to 21 straight dual meets. It also gave Towson its 12
th win over conference rival William & Mary.
How it Happened
- The Tigers opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Jacy Icard, Kalyn Fetter, Krumenacker and Caitlin Manthe combined for a time of 1:45:62.
- Towson swept the 1000-yard freestyle with Illenye winning the event in 10:12.85. Corie Morton followed in second-place (10:19.59) and Danielle Clark took third (10:29.92).
- Krumenacker earned a victory in the 200-yard freestyle, timing 1:53.50.
- The Tigers had two top-three finishers for the 100-yard backstroke. Icard timed 56.12 to win the event while Olivia Evans finished third (59.44).
- Amanda Rosa was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.91.
- Illenye continued her impressive day, recording 2:06.31 in the 200-yard butterfly to win the event.
- Manthe finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (24.67).
- Toy won bronze in the 100-yard freestyle 53.11.
- In the 200-yard backstroke, Krumenacker won her second event of the day with a time of 2:01.99. Icard timed 2:05.89 for a third-place finish.
- Morton was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke, timing 2:23.64.
- Illenye won her third event with a time of 5:00.75 in the 500-yard freestyle. Clark timed 5:09.02 to place third.
- Krumenacker earned her third victory with a win in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.80). Morton followed in second-place with a time of 2:09.94.
- The Tigers wrapped up the meet with a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Manthe, Ryan Ulrich, Annemarie Schnoor and Toy swam a combined 3:34.04.
- On the diving boards, Emily Wilson won the one-meter event with 240.67 points. Kelsey Jehl won on the three-meter boards with 291.60 points.
