Field Hockey Hosts Hofstra, Travels to Lehigh

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team splits its weekend action, hostsing Hofstra on Friday and heading to Lehigh on Sunday.
 
Towson welcomes Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival Hofstra to Johnny Unitas® Stadium on Friday at 6 p.m. The game will serve as the Tigers' Breast Cancer Awareness Night. On Sunday, the Tigers make their way to Ulrich Sports Complex to face Lehigh for a noon matchup.
 
The Coverage
Both games this weekend will feature live stats and video streams. Friday's action will be shown for free, courtesy of Towson Sports Network. Sunday's matchup will be shown on the Patriot League Network and available via CampusInsiders.
 
The Series: Hofstra
Towson and Hofstra continue a long standing rivalry on Friday. The two teams have faced off 36 times, with Hofstra holding a 25-11 advantage in the series. Towson's last win over the Pride was a 3-0 decision in the 2011 regular season.
 
The Series: Lehigh
The Tigers and Mountain Hawks will meet for the 15th time on Sunday. Towson earned its first win in the series with a 4-2 decision last year. Allie Stauffer led the Tigers with a goal and assist in that game. Towson also received goals from Morgan Skavdahl and Taylor Kvilhaug.
 
With a Win Friday…
  • Towson would get its first win over Hofstra since the 2011 season.
  • Get its third win of the season, the most wins in a season since Towson won 10 games in 2011.
  • Defeat a CAA opponent for the first time since defeating Northeastern, 1-0 during the 2011 season.
  • Record its third home victory of the season, the most since Towson won five inside Johnny Unitas® Stadium in 2011.
 
With a Win Sunday…
  • Towson would earn its second-straight win over Lehigh.
  • Get its second victory in series history.
  • Defeat the Mountain Hawks for the first time on the road.
  • Earn its first win over a Patriot League opponent since its 4-2 win against the Mountain Hawks last season.
  • Record its first win on the road since a 3-2 win at Longwood In 2014.
 
Saves, Saves, Saves
Towson continues to excel in the saves category, recording 156 on the season. The Tigers are the top ranked team among Division I programs for saves per game with 14.18. Towson also ranks fifth in the nation for save percentage with a mark of .772. As an individual, Woodall has the second-most saves per game (11.82) among DI goalies and ranks fourth with a save percentage of .774. Woodall has a league-best 130 saves over 11 appearances in goal.
 
Tigers' Offense
Sabrina Davis recorded her second goal of the season at William & Mary on Friday. She is one of four Tigers to tally a goal this season. Devon Hake earned the assist on the play, giving her a team-best three assists. This season, five Tigers have recorded points, led by Lexi Butler with a team-best seven points (3 G, 1 A).
