TOWSON, Md. – Over 120 Towson student-athletes participated in the Tiger Athletic Fund (TAF) thank-a-thon on Monday, February 8 on the suite level of SECU Arena. This is the second year in a row that the Tiger Athletic Fund has hosted this event, which aims to show thanks and gratitude to the supporters of Towson Athletics.

Students from 19 varsity sports participated in the day-long event. More than 1,200 notes of appreciation were written to TAF donors. This event gave Towson student-athletes the opportunity to reflect on the impact of donations to the Tiger Athletic Fund, and an opportunity to show their gratitude to donors who help make their athletic and academic careers a possibility.

"As a scholarship student-athlete, I have a lot of appreciation for the donors and fans of Towson Athletics," said freshman baseball player Richard Palacios. "Their support allows us to have the best academic support staff, and keeps me motivated on succeeding on the field and in the classroom."

Dan Crowley, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development, stressed the significance of this event. "Our number one goal is to provide necessary resources to our student-athletes in order to give them the ability to succeed in the classroom and on the playing field. The thank-a-thon allows our student-athletes to gain an understanding of the support that they receive from the Towson community, and gives them a chance to express their appreciation for that support."

The Tiger Athletic Fund currently holds 1,200 members, with a goal to increase that number to 2,000 overall supporters by June 30, 2016.
