No. 18 Tigers Ready for Tough Test at No. 2 Florida Monday Night

Opening Draw: It's a battle of the unbeatens on Monday night as the 6-0 Tigers visit 8-0 Florida in Gainesville. Opening draw in the battle of the unbeatens is set for 6:30 p.m. from Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Links to live stats and video feed can be found on the schedule page of TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (@Towson_WLAX) for updates.

Updating the Tigers: Towson jumped out to an 11-1 halftime advantage last time out and rolled to a 17-3 win at Stetson. Nine Tigers scored in that game and that group was led by freshman attacker Carly Tellekamp who had a career-high four goals and sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano who matched her career-high with six points on three goals and three assists. Montalbano paces the Tiger offense this season with 12 goals and a team-high eight assists for 20 points. Tellekamp has contributed 14 points on 12 goals and two assists. Four Tigers have recorded double digit ground balls and that group is led by redshirt senior Nadia Podo who has 11. Sophomore defender Tianna Wallpher has a team-high 10 caused turnovers. Montalbano and sophomore midfielder Emily Gillingham have each pulled down nine draw controls. Freshman Angie Benson carries a 5.16 goals against average and a .447 save percentage into the game..

Scouting Florida: Florida remained undefeated with a 13-5 win over No. 14 Boston College on Friday night. Sammi Burgess led the Gators with four goals in that contest. Nicole Graziano is one of three Gators with 20 or more points this season, she leads the team with 22 points. Mollie Stevens has tallied a team-high 17 goals while Shayna Pirreca has dished out a team-best 10 assists. Graziano and Stevens each have 16 draw controls to lead the team in that category while Caroline Fitzgerald has scooped up 14 ground balls. Taylor Bresnahan and Sydney DuPre lead the team with 13 caused turnovers each. Mary-Sean Wilcox leads the team with an 8.12 goals against average and a .476 save percentage.

Towson-Florida Series History: Monday's game will be the first ever meeting between the Tigers and Gators. Towson is 2-0 already this season against teams it is playing for the first time ever (wins at Jacksonville and Stetson). Tonight's game is also the second of three games this season for the Tigers against teams from the Big East Conference (Towson defeated Georgetown, will face UConn on May 1).

Hats Off to You: A pair of Tigers recorded hat tricks in Friday's win over Stetson. Freshman attacker Carly Tellekamp had a career-high four goals in that game while sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano added three goals. That was the second hat trick of the season for both players.

Lucky Number Nine: Nine Tigers found the back of the net in Friday's win at Stetson. Five of those nine players scored multiple goals in the game. It was the first time since April 20 of last year at William & Mary that the Tigers had nine players score in a game.

Just the Way We Drew It up: Senior midfielder Breanna Hamm had three draw controls in Friday's win at Stetson. That raised her season total to eight draw controls and her career total to 131 draw controls. Hamm currently sits fourth in career history at Towson for draw controls. She needs 10 more draw controls to move into a tie with Stephanie Howell (141, 2001-04) for third place on the career draw controls list at Towson.

And Then There Were Five: The Tigers enter play this week as one of five remaining undefeated teams in Division I. Along with Towson, the other teams still undefeated are Florida, Maryland,  USC and Cornell.

All About the Defense: Defense continues to play an important role for the Tigers early on this season. Towson limited Stetson to three goals last time out and has now held all six of it's opponents to single-digits on the scoreboard. Towson has held three of its six opponents to five goals or less. The Tigers enter play this week with the second best scoring defense in the nation. Towson is surrendering an average of 4.83 goals per game.

What's Next? Towson returns home to host Penn on Saturday, Mar. 19 as part of a doubleheader with the Towson men's lacrosse team. Opening draw for the women's game is set for 3 p.m.
