Towson-James Madison Series History: The Tigers and Dukes will be meeting for the 38th time overall and the fifth time when the CAA Championship is on the line. The Dukes lead the all-time series 25-12 and have won three straight following an 11-9 victory over the Tigers a couple of weeks ago in the regular season. James Madison beat the Tigers in 2011 and 2015 to capture the CAA title while the Tigers took down the Dukes in 2012 and 2014. .

Punch A Ticket For the Big Dance: The winner of Sunday's game captures the CAA title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Towson will be looking for its seventh CAA crown since joining the league for the 2002 season and third under head coach Sonia LaMonica (2005, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014). Towson, who is the No. 2 seed for Sunday's game, won the CAA Championship as the No. 2 seed in 2005.

This Looks Familiar: For the third straight year and fifth time overall, the Tigers will meet James Madison in the CAA Championship game. Towson needed overtime two years ago to claim the title and has won two of the last three meetings in the CAA Championship game (2014, 2012 - James Madison in 2015).

Just the Way We Drew It Up: Senior midfielder Breanna Hamm had two draw controls against Elon. That raised her season total to 41 draw controls and her career total to 164 draw controls. Hamm currently sits in third place on the career draw controls list at Towson. She needs four more draw controls to move into a tie for second on the career draw controls list at Towson (Becky Trumbo - 168).

Defense Stands Tall: The Tigers' defense has been a key piece of Towson's success this season and that was on display in the win over Elon. The Phoenix had several extended possessions and were unable to penetrate. Towson has held 14 of its 17 opponents to single-digits on the scoreboard. Nine of those opponents were held to six goals or less. It's the first time since 1990 that the Tigers have held 14 or more opponents to single-digit goals. It's also the first time since 1990 that Towson has held nine or more opponents to six goals or less in a season. The Tigers entered play this weekend with the seventh best scoring defense in the nation (6.69 goals per game) and lowered that number to 6.65 goals per game after Friday.

And the streak goes on... Six Tigers carry a point streak into Sunday's game. Freshman midfielder Natalie Sulmonte has recorded a point in nine-straight games. Junior midfielder Samantha Brookhart, sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano each have recorded a point in seven-straight games. Redshirt junior attacker Alyssa Ferro has tallied a point now in six-straight contests. Sophomore midfielder Emilly Gillingham has a point in four-straight games while sophomore attacker Jenna Kerr has recorded a point in back-to-back games.

Big Stop Benson: Freshman Angie Benson had another strong game in goal for the Tigers against Elon. Benson made eight saves, six of which came in the second half, and several were on point blank shots. Benson has now recorded five or more saves in 12 games this season. She enters the CAA Championship game with a 6.77 goals against average and has ranked among the Top 10 in the country in that category for most of the season.
