TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team splits its weekend action, heading to Lafayette on Friday before hosting LIU Brooklyn on Sunday.
Towson (1-5) faces off against Lafayette (4-1) at Rappolt Field on Friday at 6 p.m. On Sunday, Towson hosts LIU Brooklyn (0-3) for a noon matchup at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.

Both matchups this weekend will feature live stats and free video streams. Friday's action will be streamed by the Patriot League, while Sunday's game will be shown courtesy of Towson Sports Network.
The Series: Lafayette
This will be the 10
th all-time meeting between the Tigers and Leopards, and the first in 27 years. Towson and Lafayette last faced off during the 1989 season, before any current member of either team was born. The Leopards earned a 2-0 victory over the Tigers during the 1989 season. The two teams tied 1-1 in 1985.
The Series: LIU Brooklyn
This will be the first-ever meeting between Towson and LIU Brooklyn. The Blackbirds are in their inaugural season for field hockey after adding the sport prior to the start of the 2016 season.
With a Win Friday…
- Towson would earn its first-ever win over Lafayette.
- The Tigers would also get their second win of the season, matching the program's win total from 2015.
- Towson would record its first win on the road since a 3-2 win at Longwood in 2014.

I'm Honored
Junior goalkeeper
Emilee Woodall was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping the Tigers defeat La Salle 2-1 in overtime. The win was the Tigers' first of the season and the first of Woodall's career. She tallied 25 saves over the weekend (.893 save percentage) and allowed just three goals. Woodall backstopped a Tiger defense that fought off 23 penalty corners between both games, allowing Ohio University to score on just one of its 18 chances. In Sunday's loss to Ohio, she matched her career-high with 15 saves.
First Goal, First Win
Towson recorded its first goals of the season in the 2-1 overtime win over La Salle on Friday. Freshman

Offense is Clicking
The Tigers' offense came alive last weekend as Towson recorded a season-high 12 shots against La Salle, the most in a game since a 4-2 win over Lehigh on Sept. 13, 2015. On Sunday, Towson tallied six shots, the second-most in a game this season. Entering last weekend's action, the Tigers had recorded five shots over four games.
Saves, Saves, Saves
The Tigers continue their trend of leading in saves, both in the conference and nationally. Towson leads the CAA with 81 total saves and is averaging 13.50 saves per game, best in the Division I. Woodall leads the CAA with 72 saves and has a conference-best .800 save percentage. She leads all Division I goalies with a 12.00 saves per game average and ranks seventh for save percentage.
Defensive Dynamos
Towson is tied with Delaware for a conference-best three defensive saves this season. Last season, the Tigers led the CAA and finished third among all Division I programs for defensive saves with 16. Only 10 players in the conference have recorded defensive saves this season, including sophomore
Erika McKay and freshmen
Carli Herman and
Paige Zaleppa.
