Calling All Hometown Heroes: Sunday will be the Tigers' second annual Hometown Heroes contest. The game gives Towson a chance to recognize military personnel and first responders. All Hometown Heroes can receive four free tickets to the game.
Series History: The Tigers resume what has been a short but successful series with the College of Charleston. It will be just the ninth meeting all-time between the Tigers and Cougars. Towson leads the series 6-2 after the two squads split their two match-ups last year. Each team claimed victory on their home court last season. Forward
Brittany Tarr scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the two games combined.
Freshmen Step Up: A pair of Tiger freshmen stepped up in Friday's contest against Hofstra. Freshman guard
Nukiya Mayo made her first career start and responded with six points and six rebounds. The six boards tied her season-high. Freshman guard
Etalyia Vogt came off the bench to spark the Tigers with seven points, four assists and two steals. The seven points were a season-high while the four helpers tied her season-best.
Defense Steps Up: The Tigers held Hofstra to just nine points in the second quarter of Friday night's contest. It was the eighth time this season the Tigers have held an opponent to single-digits in a quarter. The best performance by the defense came in the third quarter against UMBC as the Tigers held the Retrieves to just five points during that 10 minute span.
Lending a Helping Hand: Towson dished out 11 assists against the Pride on Friday night. Four Tigers recorded an assist in the game and that group was led by guards
Raven Bankston and
Etalyia Vogt, who had four helpers each. The Tigers have now recorded double digit assists in 11 games this season. Friday also marked the fifth time this season the Tigers have had two players with four or more assists in the same game.
Seeing Double: Guards Raven and
Raine Bankston led the Tigers on Friday night as they scored 14 and 11 points respectively.
Raven Bankston scored in double figures for the fifth straight game, 14th time this season and 74th time in her career.
Raine Bankston reached double figures for the second straight game, seventh time this season and 15th time in her career.
Up Next: The Tigers return to the court on Friday, Jan. 20 when they host William & Mary at 7 p.m.
