TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving team totaled 31 top-three finishes, including six individual victories and two relay wins in a 170-123 dual meet victory over UMBC Saturday at Burdick Hall. The Tigers also swept the top three spots in both diving events.
Senior
Jacy Icard totaled three first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard medley relay and the 400-freestyle relay while sophomore
Annemarie Schnoor had two first-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and the 400 free relay. For the second-straight meet, junior
Emily Wilson accounted for two wins by sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Joining Icard and Schnoor on the winning 400 free relay team were senior Caitlin Manthe and junior Ryan Ulrich. The Tigers won the event in 0.27 seconds ahead of UMBC.
- Icard, Schnoor, Manthe and sophomore Jacki Schoening finished first in the 200-yard medley relay as Towson has started each of its three meets this season with a win in the event.
- Manthe posted her first individual victory of the season in the 50 free, leading a 1-2-3 Towson finish with Schnoor and Ulrich finising second and third, respectively. The three were separated by a total of just 0.27 seconds.
- The same trio also finished 1-2-3 in the 100-yard freestyle with Schnoor taking first, followed by Ulrich and Manthe.
- Towson had three 1-2-3 finishes, the last of which came in the 200-yard backstroke with freshman Cambria Cloutier posting her first career event win in a time of 2:05.28. Icard placed second while junior Haley Sutton was third.
- Schoening posted her first event victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:06.31 that was just 0.09 seconds ahead of junior Amanda Rosa.
- Rosa finished in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:23.77, four seconds ahead of UMBC's Madyson Popalis. Rosa also had a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
- Freshman Karlee Carminiti finished second in 500-yard freestyle for the second-straight meet while sophomores Sarah-Margaret Locke and Megan Cowan finished second in the 200 free and 200 fly, respectively.
- Other notable finishers for Towson included senior Kendall Krumenacker (3rd, 200 free), junior Tasha Reidenbach (3rd, 200 fly),freshman Cambria Cloutier (3rd, 100 back), freshman Kasey Gamache (3rd, 200 breast) and junior Danielle Clarke (3rd, 500 free).
