ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving team totaled five first-place finishes, including two individual and two diving victories, as the Tigers split a tri-meet at the United States Naval Academy on Friday. Towson defeated Johns Hopkins, 212-82, while following to host Navy, 159-135.
As a team, Towson had 19 top-three finishes. Senior
Jacy Icard posted two of the team's five wins in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard medley relay while junior
Emily Wilson also accounted for two wins by sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Tasha Reidenbach also had the other first-place victory for the Tigers as she won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:10.74, edging out Gwynnie Lamastra of Johns Hopkins by 0.09 seconds.
- For the second-straight week, Towson opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Icard, sophomore Kalyn Fetter, junior Tara Goss and senior Caitlin Manthe touched the wall in a season-best 1:45.79.
- Icard won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.16 seconds while senior Kendall Krumenacker came in third with a time of 57.81 seconds.
- Icard was second in the 200 back in a time of 2:03.94, just 0.60 seconds behind Navy's Ashley Boddiford.
- Icard, Krumenacker, Manthe and sophomore Annemarie Schnoor placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.21 which was only 0.21 seconds behind first-place Johns Hopkins.
- Manthe and Schnoor also came in second in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle, respectively.
- Towson posted a 1-2-3 finish in both diving events with Wilson finishing first in both followed by juniors Victoria Zozzaro and Kelsey Jehl.
- Wilson, who already qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in the 3-meter at Georgetown, achieved the mark again with a score of 289.50, improving on last week's 282.68.
- Wilson also qualified for zones in the 1-meter event Friday night with a score of 277.73.
- Jehl is already qualified for zones in the 3-meter event as a result of her 302.10 at Georgetown last week.
- Other notable finishers for the Tigers included junior Amanda Rosa who finished second in the 100 back, freshman Karlee Carminati who was second in the 500 free, sophomore Sarah-Margaret Locke who was third in the 200 free and sophomore Megan Cowan who was third in the 200 fly.

- The Tigers return the pool in less than 24 hours when they host UMBC at Burdick Hall on Saturday with diving at 10 a.m., and swimming beginning at 1 p.m.
