Carly Tellekamp and senior
Samantha Brookhart are tied for the team lead with 13 points each. Tellekamp has contributed 11 goals and two assists while Brookhart has posted four goals and a team-high nine assists. Sulmonte has pulled down a team-high 12 draw controls. Freshmen
Olivia Conti and
Sami Chenoweth have corralled a team-high nine groundballs while senior
Kelly McQuilkin has a team-best nine caused turnovers. Keating carries a 7.85 goals against average and a .510 save percentage into the contest.
Scouting Loyola: Loyola opened its season with a 12-8 loss to Johns Hopkins on Wednesday afternoon. The Greyhounds and Blue Jays were tied at the half but Johns Hopkins outscored Loyola 6-2 in the second half for the win.
Cami Whiteford and
Frankie Kamely each scored three goals in the game for the Greyhounds.
Taylor VanThof grabbed five draw controls while
Bailey Mathis and
Madison Fahey each had two caused turnovers.
Taylor Caldwell posted a 12.00 goals against average and a .294 save percentage in cage. Caldwell also grabbed a team-high three groundballs.
Towson-Loyola Series History: Sunday's game will be the 44th meeting all-time between the two schools separated by just 3.5 miles. The Greyhounds lead the match-up, 32-11. However, Towson snapped a three-game losing streak versus Loyola with a 9-5 win last year. In that contest, the Tigers used a big second half, outscoring the Greyhounds 6-2 in that period to claim the victory.
Kaitlyn Montalbano had two goals, an assist and a draw control to lead the Tigers.
Maddy Blakeman had a pair of goals for the Greyhounds.
Standing Tall in Goal: Towson got a huge performance from freshman
Kiley Keating in goal during Wednesday's game at Georgetown. Keating registered 10 saves in the game, including six on several point blank shots in the first half. Keating became the first Tiger goalie with 10 or more saves in a game since
Kelsea Donnelly had 16 saves against Johns Hopkins in 2015.
Balanced Attack: A balanced attack has been key for the Tigers so far this season. Seven Tigers scored at least one goal on Wednesday at Georgetown. Five of those seven scored at least two goals and that group included sophomore
Natalie Sulmonte, who had three and junior
Maddie Tribbe, who registered the first two goal game of her career. Towson has now had seven players score in each of the first four games this season.
Helping Ourselves: For the second straight game and third time in four games, the Tigers recorded double-digit caused turnovers as they finished with 12 at Georgetown. Eight Tigers posted at least one caused turnover in that contest. That group was led by freshman
Olivia Conti who had three caused turnovers while freshman
Sami Chenoweth and senior
Tianna Wallpher had two caused turnovers each. Dating back to the start of the 2016 season, the Tigers are 8-2 when they force double-digit caused turnovers in a game.
Hats Off to You: For the second straight game, the Tigers had a player record a hat trick. Sophomore attacker
Natalie Sulmonte finished with three goals against Georgetown, become the fourth different Tiger to record a hat trick this season. It was Sulmonte's sixth career hat trick.
Miss Assist: Senior attacker
Samantha Brookhart led the Tigers with three assists in the win at Georgetown. It was the second straight game Brookhart posted three assists and third time this season she has posted multiple assists in a game. Brookhart now has 51 career assists. She is tied for ninth in program history for career assists and has 16 career multi assist games.
