RICHMOND, Va. – Senior
Olivia Evans of the Towson University women's swimming and diving program earned a spot on the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Academic Team, league officials announced on Thursday. In addition, six Tigers received All-CAA honors for their performances at the 2017 CAA Championship Meet.

Drexel's Rachel Bernhardt was named Swimmer of the Year while fellow Dragon Alexa Kutch earned Rookie Swimmer of the Year honors. Olivia Lehman of James Madison was tabbed as the Diver of the Year while her teammate Caryln McNeely was named Rookie Diver of the Year. Drexel's Adam Braun and James Madison's Dane Pederson shared Swimming Coaches of the Year accolades and James Madison's John Wolsh picked up Diving Coach of the Year honors.

Evans earned a spot on the CAA All-Academic team for the first time in her career. She posted a 3.750 grade point average (GPA) in the fall semester. A mass communictions major, she has a cumulative GPA of 3.825. At the conference meet, Evans placed sixth in the 100-yard butterfly, eighth in the 100-yard backstroke and ninth the 200-yard backstroke.

All-CAA accolades are based on individual and/or relay performances at the 2017 CAA Championship Meet, with the top three individual finishers or relays being honored.

Jacy Icard,
Ashley Illenye and
Kendall Krumenacker headlined the list for the Tigers, being named to the All-CAA team in two events each. Sarah Margaret Locke,
Corie Morton and
Melissa Toy each received one recognition.

Icard won silver in the 100-yard backstroke with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 53.43. She posted an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:58.09 in the 200-yard backstroke to earn bronze.

Illenye was the lone Tiger to be named an event champion at the CAA Championship. She won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:40.07. She also picked up a silver medal in the 400-yard individual medley, timing 4:21.30.

Krumenacker timed 2:02.11 to win silver in the 200-yard individual medley. She also swam the final leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:20.85) with Locke, Toy and Morton to win bronze at the conference championship.

The Tigers finished third at the 2017 CAA Championship Meet, setting a school record, posting two NCAA 'B' cut times and earning a spot at the podium six times.
