Tigers Fall on the Road

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Towson University baseball dropped its third game in a row, falling 10-4 to Maryland Eastern Shore Tuesday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Tigers (14-20) got on the board in the first inning as Andrew Cassard singled and stole second.  Richie Palacios drove in Cassard with a double to left center.  Palacios would score two batters later on an error by the first baseman.
  • MDES (8-27) got a run back in the first on a base hit from Anthony Rotondo before scoring two runs in the second on a fielder's choice and a groundout.
  • Towson pushed across its third run in the third inning after Mark Grunberg tripled to left center and scored on a Palacios sacrifice fly.
  • The Hawks would extend their lead in the home-half of the inning with the help of a Tiger throwing error.  The error allowed one run to score and later set up a sacrifice fly and a run-scoring single by Justin Somerville.
  • A.J. Gallo helped the Tigers score another run in the fourth inning with a bunt base hit to start the frame.  He would come around to score when Logan Burke doubled to left center.
  • MDES extended its lead with three RBI hits in the fifth inning.
  • Bo Plagge (0-2) took the loss after allowing five runs on three hits and four walks in two innings.
  • Bryan Liriano (1-0) picked up the victory after giving up four runs, three earned, on five hits over five innings.
  • Cassard and Gallo each collected two hits, while Palacios drove in a pair of runs.
