Opening Draw: The No. 17/20 Towson University women's lacrosse team hits the road for the final time during the regular season on Friday, April 21. The Tigers make the quick trip up I-95 to take on long-time rival Delaware. Opening draw from Delaware Stadium is set for 5 p.m. Towson Sports Network's
Ben Rosenbaum will have audio coverage of the game starting at 4:45 p.m. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (

Updating the Tigers: Sophomore attacker
Carly Tellekamp posted her second six-goal game of the year but it was not enough as the Tigers fell at Hofstra, 17-15 on Sunday. The Tigers have a balanced offensive attack as five players have 30 or more points this season. Senior attacker
Samantha Brookhart leads the team in points (54) and assists (38). Sophomore attacker
Natalie Sulmonte and Tellekamp have each recorded 30 or more goals this season. Sulmonte has 35 goals and 14 assists for 49 points while Tellekamp has a team-high 40 goals and seven assists for 47 points. Sulmonte has pulled down a team-high 61 draw controls. Junior defender
Tianna Wallpher has scooped up a team-high 40 ground balls. Freshman defender
Olivia Conti leads the squad with 39 caused turnovers. Sophomore
Angie Benson carries a 9.64 goals against average and a .476 save percentage into the weekend.
Scouting Delaware: The Blue Hens enter Friday's game looking to bounce back from a hard fought 6-3 loss at Elon on Sunday.
Taylor Carpentier made 17 saves in the loss to the Phoenix. Delaware is led by the duo of
Jamie Schwartz and
Becky Goshler. Schwartz has a team-high 32 points and also leads the squad with 14 assists. Goshler has tallied a team-high 25 goals to go along with six assists. She also leads the team with 20 caused turnovers.
Coley Ricci leads the Blue Hens in the circle with 33 draw controls. Carpentier enters Friday's action with an 8.19 goals against average and a .466 save percentage. She also has collected a team-high 28 ground balls.
Towson-Delaware Series History: Towson resumes one of its longest running rivalries as it travels to Delaware on Friday. It will be the 51st meeting in a series that dates back to 1977. The Blue Hens hold a 31-19 advantage in the all-time series. However the Tigers have won five of the last six meetings after posting a 7-6 overtime win last year.
Michelle Gildea scored the game-winning goal in the extra session last year.
Super Six: Sophomore attacker
Carly Tellekamp made the most of her return to Long Island on Sunday. Tellekamp scored on her first six shots of the game for her second "sock trick" of the season and third by a Tiger this year (Tellekamp - at UMBC, at Hofstra,
Kaitlyn Montalbano - William & Mary). Tellekamp now has five hat tricks this season and 12 multi-goal games.
We'll Take That: Behind a swarming defense, the Tigers finished with 11 caused turnovers at Hofstra. It was the 11th time this season the Tigers have recorded double-digit caused turnovers in a contest. Towson enters play this weekend leading the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and ranked seventh in the nation in caused turnovers per game (11.93). The Tigers have forced a season-high 18 caused turnovers twice (Notre Dame and William & Mary).
Could Go Down to the Wire: Fans of the Towson/Delaware series should be prepared for another close contest. Five of the last six games between the Tigers and Blue Hens have been decided by two goals or less and two of those contests have needed an extra session. The only one not to be close was the 2013 contest, which Towson won 14-9 at Delaware.
Just the Way She Drew It Up: Sophomore attacker
Natalie Sulmonte led the Tigers with five draw controls at Hofstra. It was the 12th time this season that Sulmonte has posted multiple draw controls in a game. The five draw controls raised her season total to 61 draw controls. Sulmonte's 61 draw controls are tied for fourth in single-season history at Towson (
Becky Trumbo-2005). Sulmonte is just the third player in school history to record 60 or more draws in a single-season (
Hillary Fratzke-2006, 2008, 2010 and Trumbo-2005). Sulmonte now has 112 career draw controls which ranks seventh in school history.
Lending a Helping Hand: Senior defender
Michelle Gildea became the 12th Tiger to record an assist this season when she picked up the helper on
Carly Tellekamp's sixth goal of the game Sunday. The Tigers have now recorded 83 assists on 190 goals this season. That betters the team's assist total from a year ago and is the most assists by a Tiger squad since the 2014 squad had 94 assists in 19 games. Entering play on Thursday, the Tigers ranked first in the CAA and 34th in the nation in assists per game (5.93).
Forty and Fine: Towson had a pair of players reach the 40 mark in their respective stat category on Sunday. Sophomore attacker
Carly Tellekamp's six goals at Hofstra gave her 40 goals on the season. Tellekamp is the first Tiger to score 40 or more goals in a season since Andi Raymond had 50 in 2014. Junior defender
Tianna Wallpher's three ground balls at Hofstra gave her 40 on the season. Wallpher is the first Tiger since Alexa Demski (41 in 2013) to have 40 or more ground balls in a season.
Lucky Number Ten: The Tigers enter play this weekend looking for their 10th win of the season. If Towson can secure number 10, it would be the sixth time in seven years under head coach
Sonia LaMonica that the team reached the 10-win plateau. It would also be the 18th time in program history that a Tiger squad has reached the 10-win mark.
What's Next? Towson returns home to host Drexel on Sunday, April 23 at noon. That will wrap up CAA play for the Tigers and it will be Youth Lacrosse Day. There will be inflatables before the game and a youth clinic with a chance for autographs after the game.
