It's Good to be Home: After splitting their time last weekend (one on the road, one at home), the Tigers get to play both games in Johnny Unitas ® Stadium this weekend. Towson welcomes Lock Haven to town on Friday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. and then plays host to Saint Francis on Sunday, Sept. 3 at noon. Looking at the Tigers: Plenty of new faces made their Towson debut last weekend. Six freshmen earned the start in either one or both games and 11 newcomers saw time on the field. Freshmen
Beira Ho and
Valerie Hajek are tied for the team lead with two shots apiece. Junior
Devon Hake picked up a defensive save against Longwood. Senior
Emilee Woodall made a combined 18 saves in the first two games while freshman
Molly Santi made four saves in her debut at Rutgers.
Scouting the Opponents: Lock Haven sits at 2-0 on the year after a 3-2 overtime win over Central Michigan last time out.
Alyscia Smith was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week after posting two goals and two assists in the opening weekend, including the game-winner against Central Michigan.
Tamia Roach has added two goals and an assist on the season.
Paige Stuppy carries a 1.49 goals against average and a .625 save percentage into the game.
Saint Francis has a record of 1-1 entering its contest against Kent State on Friday.
Brea Seabrook enters the weekend with a team-best five points on one goal and three assists while
Brianna Govia and
Marielle Cavallaro have each scored two goals.
Elizabeth Dyer brings a 1.93 goals against average and .769 save percentage into Friday's game.
Series History: Friday's game will be the eighth meeting between Towson and Lock Haven. The Bald Eagles have won six of the seven previous matchups including an 8-0 win over the Tigers last season. The Tigers' lone victory in the series was a 1-0 win at home during the 2005 season.
The Tigers have faced Saint Francis eight times and the series is knotted at 4-4 after the Red Flash's 1-0 victory last season. The Tigers' last victory was a 2-0 win at home in 2011.
Newcomers Make an Impact: The Tigers' newcomers defintely made an impact during their first weekend. Freshmen
Beira Ho,
Valerie Hajek,
Kendra Sykes and
Peppe Haantjes all started both games while Ho and Hajek are tied for the team lead with two shots each. Freshmen
Daniella DeSouza and
Nathalie Tortolero each earned a start. Freshman
Molly Santi made four saves in her collegiate debut while playing the second half of the game against Rutgers. Four other Tigers made their Black and Gold debuts.
Let's get Defensive: Junior
Devon Hake picked up a defensive save in the contest against Longwood. It was Hake's first defensive save of her career after playing as a forward in her first two seasons.
You are from Where? Freshman
Peppe Haantjes hails from Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Haantjes joins
Kajee Murangi, '07 as the only players in program history who had an international birthplace. Murgani listed her hometown as Chevy Chase in Maryland but her birthplace as Namibia.
Saves, Saves, Saves: Towson senior
Emilee Woodall continues to come up big for the Tigers in cage. Woodall has 18 saves through the first two games of the season and 13 of those came against Longwood. For Woodall it was her 19th career game with double digit saves.
Up Next: The Tigers head down the road to College Park, Maryland. Towson will face Maryland on Friday, Sept. 8 and American on Sunday, Sept. 10, both matches are part of the Terrapin Invitational.
