ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Fueled by a solid performance from
Maddi Mangum, who won the 100-yard butterfly, the Towson University women's swimming and diving team earned a pair of victories at the Navy Invitational at Lejeune Hall Friday afternoon.
In addition to the individual success, Mangum was part a pair of relay teams that finished among the top three in their events.
The Tigers defeated William & Mary (177-123) and John Hopkins (245-55) but fell to Navy 192.5-107.5.
How it Happened
- Mangum won the 100-yard butterfly in 56.63 seconds.
- In the 200-yard freestyle Mangum teamed up with Ryan Ulrich, Meghan Jones and Annemarie Schnoor to finish in second with a time of 1:36.14.
- Then Mangum, Jones, Jacki Schoening and Ulrich competed in the 200-yard medley where they were third in 1:44.38.
- Schnoor was second in the 100-yard freestyle (56.06) and had fourth-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle, (1:45.55) and 50-yard freestyle (24.17).
- Jones captured a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (57.32) while coming in third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.04).
- Schoening placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.03).
- Megan Cowan took second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.22) while finishing in fourth in the 100-yard individual medley.
- Amanda Rosa was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.51) while Schoening was four seconds behind to come in third (2:22.55).
- Rosa also came in third-place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.17).
- Freshmen Suzannah Mills was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.99).
- Ulrich finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (5:04.99).
- In the 1-meter diving competition Victoria Zozzaro scored 252.90 to finish third.
- Kelsey Jehl (289.65) and Emily Wilson (270.90) were third and fourth, respectively in the 3-meter diving competition.
