CATONSVILLE, MD. – Fueled by victories in 11 events, the Towson University women's swimming and diving team cruised to a 174-121 victory over UMBC Thursday afternoon.
Emily Wilson helped the Tigers by winning the 1-meter diving and the 3-meter diving competitions. In the 1-meter diving she earned nine points for the Tigers scoring 261.60 and another nine points in the 3-meter scoring 288.15.
How It Happened
- The Tigers quartet of Meghan Jones, Jacki Schoening, Maddi Mangum and Ryan Ulrich helped Towson start the night on a good note by winning the 100-yard medley with a time of 1:46.31.
- Jones also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.14. She later came in third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.40).
- Schoening was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.94.
- She later tied with Amanda Rosa to win the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.19.
- Mangum also came in first in the 100-yard butterfly (57.49) and second in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.39).
- Ulrich won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.04.
- Annemarie Schnoor prevailed in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.30. She then came in second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.63.
- The Tigers had top three finishes in the 200-yard backstroke with Alex Diacumakos winning in 2:06.99. She was followed by Suzannah Mills (2:07.20) and Haley Sutton (2:07.52), who finished second and third, respectively.
- Megan Cowan won the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.22).
- Kalyn Fetter was third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.53).
- Gabby Cervone took second in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:36.66) while teammate Meagan Clark came in third (10:41.99).
- Kelsey Jehl came in second-place in both diving events. In the 1-meter she scored 244.42 while in the 3-meter she scored 286.12.
