TOWSON, Md. – Towson University junior
Alix Lowe was selected to the All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Second Team Wednesday morning. The All-CAA team was selected by the league's eight head coaches.
Lowe becomes the first Tiger in program history to earn All-CAA status.
Lowe was named CAA Golfer of the Week on October 11 and March 14. She established a program record low round of 68 in the first round of the Pinehurst Challenge. Lowe is also the school record holder for lowest 54-hole score of 210 which was set at the Pinehurst Challenge.
Her performance at the Pinehurst Challenge helped Towson shoot a program record 871 and win the Tignanelli Invitational for the third straight year.
Lowe competed in all 10 events and led Towson with a 75.0 average over 28 rounds. She helped the Tigers finish third overall at the CAA Championships, which was the highest in program history. Lowe tied for 10th at the CAA Championships (232 +16).
She was Towson's highest individual finisher at the Pinehurst Challenge (tied for third 210 -6), Blue Hen Challenge (tied for fifth, 221 +5), USF Invitational (tied for sixth, 229 +16), Kiawah Island Spring Classic (tied for 40th, 224 +8), Spring Break Shootout (third, 221 +5), and the Navy Spring Invitational (tied for fifth, 160 +16).
Lowe had three under par rounds and one even par round this past season. The Tigers finished among the top three in four tournaments.
UNCW senior Lyberty Anderson was the unanimous Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Golfer of the Year. University of Delaware's Thitaree Sakulbunpanich was chosen as the CAA Rookie of the Year while College of Charleston's Jamie Futrell was named the CAA Coach of the Year.
Joining Anderson on the All-CAA First Team were Seahawks teammate Thao My Nguyen, CofC's Victoria Huskey and Delaware's Ariane Klotz, who tied for second place at the CAA Championship, and James Madison senior Laura Gomez-Ruiz.
In addition to Lowe and Sakulbunpanich, also selected to the All-CAA Second Team were William & Mary junior Liz Choi, Elon senior Heather Munro and CofC's Isi Nilsson.
