GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Towson women's golf team is in a tie for 14th place after the first round of the Ironwood Invitational, hosted by East Carolina University, with a score of 37-over par.
Kanchana Kanchanaphiboon carded the low score for a Towson golfer at seven-over par.
Kanchana Kanchanaphiboon sits alone in 34th place after the first round. She parred 11 holes including seven of eight holes from holes three through 10.
Victoriah Kuranga ends round one at 62nd place. Kuranga birdied her third hole of the day, a par-four, 391-yard hole 15. She finished the round at nine-over par.
After missing last week's tournament,
Luciana Calbimonte ended round one in 67th place, carding a 10-over par. Calbimonte also parred seven of eight holes from holes three through 10 just like Kanchanaphiboon.
Kalyn Doss earned her second start of the season after placing second among Towson golfers at the Mimosa Hills Invitational. Doss shot 11-over par with six straight par holes from holes eight to 13.
The final competitor for Towson,
Grace Oristian, shot 13-over par.
Towson was top 10 in pars in round one, parring 48 holes, tied for ninth best on the day.
Among Towson golfers Calbimonte, Kuranga and Kanchanaphiboon shot the best on par threes in round one at two-over par. Kuranga was top 20 overall, in a tie for 19th place, on par fours at two-over par. Calbimonte and Kanchanaphiboon shot the best of any Tiger on par fives in round one at one-over par.
