SOUTHPORT, N.C. – Towson women's golf remains in sixth place at the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championships after carding 33-over par for the second consecutive day.
Payton Balliet and
Luciana Calbimonte scored the lowest in round two for a Tiger at seven-over par. Balliet now tops the leaderboard among Towson golfers.
Balliet's round picked up in the back nine with birdies on two of the first five holes, sitting at two-under par through the first five holes of the back nine. She now ranks 24th overall in the tournament.
Calbimonte immediately bounced back from a first round 12-over par performance to birdie the first hole of the day, eventually turning in her seven-over par performance and climbing into a tie for 30th.
Grace Oristian scored five-over par in round one to lead Towson after the opening 18. She scored 11-over par in the second round falling to 27th overall in the tournament, the second highest for a Towson golfer.
Victoriah Kuranga is tied with Calbimonte in 30th at 19-over par for the tournament. Kuranga shot 10-over par in the second round with pars on 12 holes.
Kanchana Kanchanaphiboon rounds out the Towson golfers. She birdied two holes on the back nine to enter the clubhouse with a round two score of nine-over par and a tournament score of +20.
UNCW continues to lead the field, remaining two strokes ahead of Charleston after the second round. The Seahawks still have the individual leader on their roster. Minouche Rooijmans is the leader after the second round with teammate, and first round leader, Victoria Leavy one stroke behind her.
