GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Towson women's golf team finished in 14th place at the Ironwood Invitational after shooting 31-over par. The Tigers improved their score after each round, shooting seven strokes better than their first round score in round three.
Grace Oristian carded a four-over par third round, the best round of any Tiger at the tournament. She was even par through 11 holes on the day, buoyed by two birdies on holes three and six.
Kanchana Kanchanaphiboon had the best individual finish for Towson at the Ironwood Invitational placing in 67th place with a 24-over par three-round total.
Kalyn Doss finished in a tie for 74th place. She carded the second-lowest third round for a Towson golfer with a seven-under third round. She birdied hole 17 as she steadily improved her score by two strokes each round.
Victoriah Kuranga ended the tournament tied with Doss at 27-over par. Kuranga parred seven of the course's front nine.
Luciana Calbimonte ended the tournament at 29-over par in 80th place. Calbimonte had the most consistent scoring of a Tiger at the tournament, shooting +10, +9 and +10 over the three rounds.
Oristian shot the best of any Tiger on par threes at three-over par. Kanchanaphiboon led Towson on par fours at 13-over par. Calbimonte turned in the lowest score on par fives at four-over par.
Hosts East Carolina won the event by 12 strokes at 13-over par. Their third round six-under par was the best round of any team at the tournament. The Pirates also had the individual winner, Nicole Nash, who shot five-under par in the third round to close the four-stroke deficit she had coming into the final round.
Next up for Towson is the CAA Championships from April 17-19 in Southport, N.C. Three other CAA teams competed in this tournament. Charleston finished the best, in third place at 25-over par.
