No. 8 Tigers Host Wagner in NCAA First Round Friday

Opening Draw
• Towson makes its 10th appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship on Friday when it hosts Wagner in the first round at Unitas Stadium beginning at 3 p.m.
• The game will be broadcast live on the Towson Sports Network with Ben Rosenbaum and Bryan Contreras calling the action.

Game Storylines
• Towson is hosting an NCAA tournament game for the third time and first since 2016. The Tigers are 1-2 in three previous postseason games at home.
• Towson earned a national seed in NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history. The Tigers were seeded at No. 8 in 2012 and hosted Penn State at Unitas Stadium, losing 15-8.
• Senior Emily Gillingham has scored a goal in 27 consecutive games.
• Senior Kaitlyn Montalbano will be playing in and starting her 77th career game on Friday, setting a new school record for both games played and games started. She has started all 77 of the team's games she since her freshman season in 2015.
• Junior Natalie Sulmonte has scored a goal in 12-straight games, including three or more seven times. She has scored 31 of her 44 goals this season during that time.
• Towson boasts three players with at least 40 goals for the second-straight season: senior Emily Gillingham (47), junior Carly Tellekamp (45) and junior Natalie Sulmonte (44). Prior to 2017, the last time the Tigers had it happen was in 2004: Becky Trumbo (45), Shannon Witzel (44) and Amy Middleton (41).
A Towson Win Would …
• Be the Tigers' 16th win of the season, tying the school record. Both the 2012 and 2016 teams went 16-4.
• Send the Tigers to the second for just the second time in 10 NCAA tournament appearances. In 2016, Towson defeated Old Dominion, 16-5.
• Be the Tigers' first win as a national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
• Improve the Tigers' record to 2-2 at home in the NCAA Tournament.

Last Time Out
•  Junior Natalie Sulmonte scored four goals while freshman Kaitlin Thornton scored four points, but No. 5 James Madison scored five-straight goals to close the first half en route to a 16-10 victory over the No. 8 Tigers in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship game.
• Sulmonte, sophomore Olivia Conti and sophomore Rachel Mills were named to the CAA Women's Lacrosse Championship All-Tournament Team.

Scouting Wagner
• Winners of the Northeast Conference (NEC), the Seahawks won their first-ever NCAA tournament game on Wednesday with a 13-9 victory over Mercer.
• NEC Rookie of the Year Ally Alliegro had three goals and four assists while Erin Kerstetter, Marjorie Dehm and Stephanie Falcone each added two goals.
• Wagner has set a new program record with 14 wins this season.
• Towson and Wagner have one common opponent this season, Saint Joseph's, who beat the Seahawks, 11-10 in overtime on March 24.

Towson-Wagner Series History
• Friday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Tigers and Seahawks.
• In 2016, Wagner played in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Unitas Stadium, losing to seventh-seeded Penn, 17-7.

Up Next for Towson
• A win on Friday would send the Tigers to the second round of the NCAA tournament for just the second time where they would face the winner between Northwestern and Richmond on Sunday, May 13 at noon.
