TOWSON, Md. – After graduating last week,
Brook Miko is taking her talents to Germany.
Miko announced that she will be playing for the Neunkirchin Nightmares organization in Neunkirchin, Germany, which is located just outside of Frankfurt. She will depart on Sunday, June 3 to begin playing professional softball.
In a recent social media post, Miko wrote: "Hanging up my cleats in one place and lacing them up in another as one door closes and another one opens. God has blessed me with an amazing journey on and off the field at Towson, but I am beyond excited to announce to continue my softball journey! Thank you for the endless love and support from my teammates, coaches (present and past), parents, and fans from coast to coast, couldn't have done it all without (everybody)."
Miko enjoyed a senior year and career to remember for Towson. She was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic and ECAC Division I First Teams following her senior season. She was also named to the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC) All-Region team.
In the latest NCAA Division I statistical leaders as of Monday, May 21, Miko led the nation in RBIs (76) and RBIs per game (1.25). She was third nationally with 23 doubles, fifth in sacrifice flies (six) and ninth in doubles per game (0.38). Miko was 12th in hits (77), 16th in total bases (138), 21st in runs per game (0.98), 29th in batting (.416), 36th in slugging percentage (.746) and 37th in toughest to strikeout (39.6).
Miko helped the Tigers enjoy a memorable season that concluded with their first postseason trip in program history. Towson set single season program records for wins (42), runs (377), hits (522), doubles (101), total bases (798), walks (183) and batting average (.327). This was Towson's highest batting average since the 1994 team hit .306. Towson also enjoyed a program-record 13-game winning streak from Feb. 23-March 17.
Miko was the only player to start every game. She set Towson single season records for RBIs, runs (60) and doubles (23). The RBI and run marks were also CAA single season records. Miko tied the single-season CAA record for doubles. She ended her career as Towson's all-time leader in runs (151), doubles (60) and RBIs (189) as well as the CAA career leader in RBIs.
Miko had a .465 on base percentage, and a .746 slugging percentage. She led the CAA in runs, RBIs, doubles, and sacrifice flies. She was third in the CAA in total bases, batting and hits and fourth with 12 stolen bases.
She smacked two home runs and drove in five runs in win over Delaware. She scored three runs against Saint Joseph's and Oakland. Miko was second on the team with 12 home runs. She also had 24 multi-hit games and 21 multi-RBI games.
